Bostonia Partners – Senior Analyst Position (January 2023)

Your job description: As a Senior Analyst, you will focus on the analytics for implementation of financing mandates with project sponsors and developers, as well as investors. You will work primarily with the Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG) and assist in all aspects of soliciting new business opportunities and executing live transactions on behalf of clients. A large part of our practice involves the monetization of tax benefits with tax-oriented investors (so called “tax-equity” Investors) realized from renewable and other energy transition projects so, in addition to Excel modeling, you will receive training on the proprietary lease and partnership allocation software system used by Bostonia. Research on industry issues and prospective clients will be key tasks for this position.

In addition, you will provide support for our Energy Efficiency/Services and the Commercial Real Estate (Credit Tenant Lease) teams. For these teams, you will assist with soliciting new business opportunities and executing live transactions on behalf of clients. Your responsibilities may include preparing financial models, preparing term sheets and investment memoranda, market research and client interface.

Many of the energy and real estate transactions are securities related and executed thru the firm’s broker-dealer. It may be necessary for you to obtain certain securities licenses if you are not already registered.

This position will provide you with an opportunity to develop an expansive knowledge of investment banking practices for energy and infrastructure finance. In particular, we envision significant opportunity with new clients seeking assistance implementing financings and/or investments for projects driven by new Federal tax credits that are now available under legislation passed in August of 2022 within the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Financial modeling and analysis across multiple project types
  • Summarizing financial results from analyses completed on tax-equity time-share software
  • Creating presentation and pitch materials for the solicitation of new business opportunities
  • Drafting descriptive term sheets and memoranda for financing assignments
  • Organizing and summarizing due diligence material
  • Conducting research on various market sectors, issues, and participants
  • Compiling and organizing compliance related material
  • Identifying, evaluating, and assisting with prospecting to client targets
  • Assist with ad-hoc / special projects as needed (e.g., white papers on target markets)
  • Participation in meetings, presentations, and conferences

Your qualifications: As the successful candidate, you will be a highly motivated, articulate individual possessing strong analytical, writing, and technical skills (including a high level of expertise with Microsoft Office and in-depth experience with Excel). You will be entrepreneurial, team oriented and can multi-task in a boutique financial advisory practice. Finally, you will possess a strong work ethic and a collaborative approach.

Your education/experience: A bachelor’s or master’s degree with emphasis in finance is important. One to three years’ experience in project and/or infrastructure finance would be helpful but not a prerequisite. Some of the transactions are securities related and are executed through the firm’s broker- dealer, so if you do not hold certain securities licenses, it may be desirable to obtain over time.
